Privacy

This policy covers the RoleShift website at roleshift.dev and the RoleShift apps for Android and iPhone. RoleShift helps you practise an interview before it happens: you give it a CV, it shows the questions an interviewer would ask about it, you rehearse against those questions, and you get a report.

• Your email address. It is how you sign in. We send a six-digit code to it; there is no password.
• Your CVs. The text of any CV you upload or paste, and the questions and quotations we derive from it. In the phone apps a PDF is read on the device and only the extracted text is sent to us — the file itself never leaves your phone.
• Your interviews. Audio recordings of your answers, their transcripts, and the reports produced from them. If you choose to keep a recording only on your phone, it is not uploaded to us at all.
• What you do in the product. Jobs and matches you create, questions you star, interview counts, credits used, and your plan.
• Payment records. If you buy a plan, our payment provider handles the card. We receive a record that a payment happened and what it was for. We never see or store your card number.
• Technical logs. Ordinary server records — request identifiers, timestamps, IP address, and errors — kept to run and debug the service.

We do not collect your contacts, your location, or anything from other apps on your device. We do not run advertising and we do not sell data to anyone.

To provide the service you asked for: to sign you in, to read your CV and produce questions, to run and transcribe an interview, to write your report, to bill you if you are on a paid plan, and to keep the service working and secure. Where the law requires a legal basis, ours is the performance of our contract with you, and our legitimate interest in keeping the service running and secure.

Your account, CVs, transcripts and reports are stored in India (Mumbai). Audio and video recordings are stored in object storage operated by our infrastructure provider. Processing may involve providers located outside your country; where that happens, it is done under contract with appropriate safeguards.

• Transcripts, CVs, jobs, matches and reports — for as long as you have the account.
• Audio and video recordings — for the number of days shown on your Account → Your data screen, counted from the interview. Retention is fixed when an interview starts; changing plan later never shortens a recording already made.
• Invoices — kept after account deletion without your name, because tax law requires it.

We use a small number of companies to run the service. They act on our instructions and may not use your data for their own purposes:

• Cloudflare — hosting, the website, and storage of recordings.
• Supabase — the database and the sign-in system.
• Razorpay (India) and Stripe (elsewhere) — payments.
• Speech-to-text and language-model providers — to transcribe your answers, read your CV, generate questions, and write your report.

• Take everything with you. Account → Your data → Download gives you one file containing your CVs, what we read in them, your jobs, matches, interviews and reports, and where each recording is.
• Delete everything. Account → Your data → Delete my account removes your CVs, jobs, matches, interviews, recordings, reports, and the account itself.
• Correct or ask about your data. Write to [email protected].

If you are in India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act gives you these rights. If you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR does, including the right to object, to restrict processing, and to complain to your data protection authority.

RoleShift is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top. If the change is significant we will tell you in the product.
